“…Records across oceans”

OPERAZIONE DISCOTECA is an independent radio project with a deeply personal and cultural foundation—but it also expands beyond radio into gigs, creating real-world spaces for music discovery and connection. Its motto, “Records Across Oceans,” was inspired by five key moments and habits from my journey:

1) Living across different countries and continents led me to discover and share music from diverse cultures.

2) I’ve connected with DJs and friends from the places I’ve lived—people who have shaped, and continue to shape, my musical taste.

3) I shipped over 1,500 records from the UK to Mexico, a symbolic and literal ocean-crossing that marked the start of this new chapter in Mexico

4) Friends who visit me in Mexico often bring records I’ve shipped to their homes in the UK, US, Italy, or Spain. I joke that I have my own global network of personal record smugglers.

5) Wherever I travel, I seek out local record shops—digging through crates and bringing home pieces of each place I visit.

My musical roots were shaped between Milan and London. I started DJing in the early 2000s, but it was after moving to London in 2013 that my vision truly expanded. I immersed myself in the underground scene and in the world of independent radios.

Also, Soon after arriving, I discovered the Independent Label Market—a record fair I which became my favourite event in town and that I attended religiously between 2013 and 2023. That’s where my love for independent labels began, drawn by their creative freedom and deeply personal approach. Over time, this became a core part of my identity as a DJ and collector.

I later joined Threads Radio and Music Box Radio UK, where I co-hosted Space Journey Diaries with my British friend Joe. These experiences reshaped how I see music—as connection, expression, and community. The friendships I formed there still thrive, even with an ocean between us

OPERAZIONE DISCOTECA is the continuation of that journey—a bridge between Mexico (my new home) and the other places I’ve called home. It’s a space I curate and manage personally, inviting people I’ve met over the years whose musical vision resonates with mine to contribute with dj mixes, Radio shows or live performances

This project doesn’t follow one aesthetic or geographic pathit celebrates sonic diversity: A musical operation in motion, open to constant discovery and cultural exchange.
